I'm back!

I had fun. We went to Sea World, Islands of Adventure, the Kennedy Space Center, and Busch Gardens for free on our military IDs. We also went to the Tampa zoo and to a little museum where they restore vintage aircraft.

I promised Jen I'd try a roller coaster since I'd never been on one. She dragged me onto the Ice Dragon at Islands of Adventure. I basically just closed my eyes and screamed the whole way; every time I opened them I was looking at sky or something. Then I rode the Fire Dragon because I couldn't ride one and not the other! Maybe I could get into coasters if I got used to the physical sensations. I dunno. Anyhow, I got a Dueling Dragons t-shirt for myself and two cute stuffed dragons for Jen. She named them Laverne and Bob.

There seem to be a lot more crazy people in the South these days. I saw several billboards that said "SUNDAY LAW = THE MARK OF THE BEAST" in gigantic yellow letters, with "Saturday is the true Sabbath!" or something beneath it and an 800 number to call for more info. Holy shit folks, at least find something that makes a little bit of sense to get upset about. I saw another billboard that simply said, "Who Control$ Amerika?" I wrote down the Web site for that one. I'll have to find it tomorrow when I finish unpacking. Oh, and I saw some redneck with vinyl lettering across the back window of his pickup: "It's either One Nation Under God, or One Nation Six Feet Over You." Fucker. I'd like to tie his mullet to the bumper of my BMW. But perhaps craziest of all, somebody actually went to the trouble and expense of publishing a small book and putting a copy on every car in the mall parking lot. Its title: The Secret Terrorists. Its message: the Jesuits (or the Roman Catholics; the book seems to refer to the two interchangeably) are out to destroy America. They sank the Titanic. They killed Kennedy. And yes, they were behind the 9/11 attacks. Plus, they also observe the Sabbath on Sunday instead of Saturday as GOD INTENDED!!!

Speaking of my BMW, it rolled over 200,000 miles on the way down and it's still running strong. Go, little Bimmer! Amazing after all it's been through, and all the maintenance I've neglected/can't afford. They just don't make 'em like that in Amerika... er, America.

I heard from work that we're getting rid of our incredibly ancient Noritsu printer and getting a not-quite-so-ancient Fuji SFA. This is exciting news. I don't know what model SFA it is, but anything's better than what we have. We're also getting a film scanner, so I'll be able to put more of my pics on CD and post them. It'll be set up in a couple weeks. I have six rolls from our vacation (plus one we left at her dad's house in Venice... oops.) I'm hoping tomorrow's a slow day so I can print them all!
