Women take lots of time and energy to reach their own acceptable level of being-paid-attention-to-enough. So, in a way, a relationship is always tangibly expensive. On the plus side, love is technically free, which is how much I like to pay for things.
(On the other hand, it can be argued that the relationship is only worth as much as both parties invest, but that's a female argument, and we've already established that they're weird.)
