Wow I love the IRS
So in a move that has me completely flabergasted the IRS has decided that if an employee who travels gets a per diem of more then $36 a day they will be taxed on it as if it were a bonus.
$36 dollars a day?!
That may seem like a lot to those of you who are in your house. However, try living in a hotel where you only source of food for your 3 squares is a resteraunt. Unless you eat fast food try eating for about $10 a meal. It is pretty friggin hard to do! I went to Quizznos for lunch today and it was $8!! And I am sorry but I can not eat Quizznos every day!! *sigh*
So my company has lowered our per diem from $45 to $36. $9 a day may not sound like much but it is. The schedule before was Breakfast 10, lunch 15 dinner 20. that is not much. Now it is 7, 12, and 17!
In a world on the road getting to have a nice meal is one of the few things that can keep you sane. Now?!
