New nostril piercing, google is failing me...

So I got my nose pierced last Saturday and yeah, I know, its still really new and I'm probably overthinking it, but I can't help but notice how incredibly fickle it is.  One day it will feel great, minimal soreness, the next day its angry and sore, then it gets better a bit, ect.  Today I noticed that there is a spot just below the actual piercing site, on my nostril, that seems firmer/harder than normal.  Of course my nose is sore today, that's no surprise, but now I'm all panicky about this being a forming granuloma.  I will readily admit to a few no-nos, namely playing with my nose screw too much (every once in awhile it spins in such a way that I HAVE to move it back to my "happy spot" where it doesn't irritate my nose, or where it doesn't stick out of the bottom of my nose...), not cleaning it per the exact instructions given (mostly because the skin around the piercing site got VERY dry and flakey and not nice, so I've gone down to one H2Ocean-by-cotton swab in the morning, and 1 homemade warm sea salt soak for 5 mins at night, with a vitamin E oil application by cotton swab following to combat the dry flakeys) and of course, only hours after getting it pierced, I snagged the stud on my sweater quickly (didn't pull out the jewelry, but hot damn, did it smart!).  I've only had two other non-ear piercings before (eyebrow and VCH, both long gone) and I remember getting a granuloma on my eyebrow during the healing phase of that piercing.  Visibly, my nostril is slightly tinged pink in a radiant circle around the piercing site, but definitely not bright red or in firey pain or anything, so I don't think it's getting infected.  I just don't really quite understand what would cause the skin in one spot to suddenly firm up.  (Sorta feels like how a budding deep pimple feels when it's really far under your skin, slightly round and tense, if that makes any sense).

And on a totally unrelated note, my piercer made the straight part of my nose screw reaaaaally long, to allow for both swelling AND the fact that my nostril is apparently thick, but now that the swelling is mostly gone down, my stud tends to poke itself out of my nose a notable amount.  My piercer said no changing the jewelry for 3 months, but if it's already driving me insane after a week, I can't even imagine how the next 11 weeks are going to irk me.  >.>

Thanks in advance for any advice!
