So when he gets hit with that urge tonight, he leaves the apartment and heads for the lake. Thanks to the infection, he feels as much at home in the dark as he ever did in sunlight. He's been avoiding that too, for that reason, trying to avoid temptation and the possible consequences that would come with it. But tonight, he lets that loose, allowing instinct to guide him through shadows and underbrush until he reaches the edge of the lake.
He's good at it, too. Perhaps because it comes naturally to him anyway, or maybe because of the years of hunting vampires. Whatever the reason, there's a part of him that takes pride in it as he finds himself at the water, and crouches there, trailing a few fingers through the reflective surface. He watches as the ripples of the water catch light from the sky above, his expression deep in thought.]

[Derek catches slight movement out of the corner of his eye first...and the scent second, and he tenses. He listens for a heartbeat and running blood as he turns to face this new person, but doesn't show it on his face. Instead, he nods at her politely.]
