Fall Dance Results

I totally failed to post about Montana and my dancing from this fall up to this point. Time to fix that.

While the team went to three competitions this semester; Harvard Beginners, Brown, and Columbia's Big Apple Dance Sport Challenge, I did not compete at Brown since Montana was ill. Nonetheless, here is how we did for Harvard and Columbia.

Harvard Sunday, October 25, 2009
In the American Smooth Event - 1st Place Tango/Foxtrot two dance
In the International Standard Event - 3rd place Waltz/Quickstep
We had a few call backs in American Rhythm Rumba/Swing and International Latin Cha/Rumba, but i forget how many and it is something we need to work on.

Columbia December 5th, 2009
American Smooth
Tango - 1st Place
Waltz/Foxtrot two dance* - 2nd Place
1st place overall for this event

International Standard
Tango - no call backs, I was a little surprised, i thought we would get at least one for this.
Waltz/Quickstep two dance - 7th Place

American Rhythm
Swing - 4th Place
Cha Cha/Rumba two dance - 5th Place
4th place overall for this event

International Latin
Jive - Quarter Finals (I think that was 2 call backs)
Cha Cha/Rumba two dance - 2nd round 1 callback

*two-dance = linked dances means that your marks are added for each dance together to see if you progress to the next round. So, if there were 5 judges for a single dance, you would need 3 out of 5 marks to continue. For a two-dance, with 5 judges, you would need 6 out of 10 marks to proceed, but that could be in any combination between the dances.
