I recently found and downloaded a fan-made Berserk RPG. It was obviously made with a stock RPG Maker. While there were picture uploaded from the manga and clips on the anime embedded into the game, most of the enemies were stock RPG villains, complete with an ultra anime-esque style. It was a turn based game, not my cup of tea, but it went quickly. I've only finished the first chapter but I am downloading the second.
Criticisms- Okay, since this was made with a RPG Maker, there are a lot of inconsistancies with the Berserk series.
Puck is with you from the beginning when Gutts first gets sent off to kill Bazuso. Yes yes yes, Puck isn't supposed to come in until after the eclipse, but with all the villains you face, a little elf powder can be really helpful in a pinch. My main complaint was that Puck was a waaaay more powerful fighter than Gutts. As you leveled, Puck got a bunch of offensive spells like 'Fire' and 'Ice'. After level 10, he was completely unstoppable, while Gutts got knocked out on almost every level. No worries, because Puck was so awesome the he would revive Gutts as if nothing happened. It was a bit ridiculous.
Anyway, so you fight your way through Bandits, Theifs, and Mercenaries, until, 2 hours later, you finally get to Bazuso. If you are level 10 or higher, this is pretty easy. Then you're done. On to Chapter 2. Griffith makes a quick cameo at the end with Gaston. Corkus shows up at least twice, but his lines are so un-Corkus like I almost wonder if the game maker knew who Corkus was.
Basically, it's a RPG with Berserk named characters with cut scenes taken directly from the anime.
Compliments- Even if the game was just a quicky fan-made homage to Berserk, the creator did capture some of the characters very well. Gutts sounds like Gutts. Puck is just as mind-numbingly annoying as he is in the anime. When things happened that were based on the Berserk story, it was exciting and fun to play along with them (even if you already knew what was going to happen). So, yeah. It's a game. About Berserk. And it's free. You might as well give it a shot.
