first day of my internship
As some of you may know i am spending the summer in miami doing an internship with the miami dade
police dept. Monday and tuesday were at the training bureau and we pretty much goofed off then yesterday
i had off but today...i was in the northside district...which includes liberty city and overtown....probly 2 of the worst
parts of miami...i got there and sat in the station waiting for the next shift of cops to come in...while waiting the other
intern talked my ear off about stupid crap...the cops were joking with the sargent (one i guess is from hollywood fla
and has a rep for being racist?-anyway a funny jew girl was picking on him-quite amusing) an older hispanic sargent
asked what my deal was and where i was from in spanish and i had to explain the whole iranian father thing...then one of
the sargents assigned the other intern to a black lady cop that she was with yesterday and i was to get her partner, some
white boy. To my surprize he rocked. he was a great trainer i guess you would say and just had alot of great things to say
he was not an ass like i thought he would be. in fact as the night grew i started to admire him and actually get really frightened
that he might get hurt. (can you tell i didnt get out of the car much?) we basically patrolled, answered calls on the dispatch,
went to jail which is always fun. i learned alot, heard alot of great stories and i think im going back tomorrow to work the 4-12 shift
arent i insane? well it wasnt dull and time flew by so...not sure if being a cop is for me but ill have some excitement finding out.
