My major events in one lump sum.
So how has my life been going you ask?
Well, I’ve gotten a promotion. As of this past Monday I’m the Merchandise Supervisor for my bookstore. What does that mean? It basically means I do the same thing I always do, but I make more money for it.
How I got the promotion is pretty funny. The Merchandise Team was originally the supervisor and one other person. Another supervisor left, and so the normal person got promoted to that spot, leaving just the merchandise supervisor on the team.
At this time, I was still on the multimedia team. They shift me to the merch team because I was the only one merch would take. My boss in multimedia actually put up a fight to keep me and give them someone else, but the store’s general manager stepped in and overrode him. Off to books I went.
So the merch team is me and the supervisor. A week later, that supervisor quits.
So you’ve got me, who was JUST moved to the department, doing all the book displays in the store (that’s what the merchandise team does; makes displays) with NO supervisor.
Over the next month, I boot along and then the store’s second-in-command comes to me and tells me to apply for the supervisor position. I do and two interviews later I’m given the job.
Does the story end there? Oh no. The store’s second in command is being transferred to another store. My old boss in multimedia now has his position. Yesterday, as I’m clocking out, he comes to me and tells me he’s pushing to get me transferred out of books and given his old job.
I’ve been working there just under 6 months.
