I went to my new job for the first time on Monday. I believe I can honestly say it’s the most boring thing evar. I sat at a desk for eight hours and called Alabama schools and was all “Hi, I’m from Salem Press and I’m calling to see if you’ve received our Fall 2005 catalog?” I also got mildly reprimanded because I didn’t bring a notepad to a sales meeting. A sales meeting which happened literally during my first fifteen minutes with the company.
Oh yeah, and Salem Press is like literally four or so miles away from where I live, across the river. But, since it’s across the river, there’s a fucking HOUR commute. It’s ridiculous.
All in all, though, it’s not too bad though. I’m definitely going to look for a new job, but I think I can survive this one until then, By the way, Josh, the Gamestop on Broadway and 85th is hiring. They only accept resumes, though. But since you have a resume, I don’t think you’d have a problem. Except that Gamestop sucks.
I walked around the city some yesterday. Got lost for a few minutes until I found the east river, and so I was able to find my way back to Broadway (which I live just off of) and so the story had a happy ending. Called Josh and wandered around Central Park while I talked to him.
Then when Elizabeth got home she and I went to this Hispanic grocery around the corner and got some stuff for dinner. It’s awesome having a girlfriend who will get in the kitchen and make me dinner whenever I tell her to.
By the way all you drinkers out there (Nathaniel), how does Corona compare to Heineken? I have to go to a barbeque this weekend and Elizabeth’s oldest sister has apparently bought me Coronas to drink. Now, I don’t even LIKE beer. But I can handle most of it. Heineken, howevever, I can’t. I’ve never been able to choke back a full bottle. It tastes, to me, like what a skunk smells like if that makes sense. Which it probably doesn’t.
Anyway, that’s got everyone pretty much updated on my activities so I’ll check you l8tar.
