Hollywood Takes A MORAL Stand!

Sep 30, 2009 12:27

Yes folks, you read that right - Hollywood takes a MORAL stand! A stand for decency. A stand for justice! That's right, Hollywood is taking a stand in defense of Roman Polanski!

Polanski, as you might remember, drugged and raped a thirteen year old girl back in 1977. He was arrested for that crime. Tried for that crime. Pled guilty to that crime. And then he fled the country before he could be imprisoned for that crime. Polanski has been "on the run" in Europe ever since. Oh, he's hardly suffered for it during these thirty two years. He's continued to make films for Hollywood and has done quite well at that.

In fact, Polanski might yet still be at large had he not screwed up by dropping over to Switzerland in order to accept yet another film industry honor for his work. It seems the Swiss pounced on him at the airport and now Polanski faces extradition to the US since Switzerland and the US have sufficiently effective extradition treaties in place.

So, for the first time in three decades this convicted felon now faces being held accountable for his crimes.

And of course, Hollywood is outraged and is now rallying to Polanski's defense. There's even a petition for Roman Polanski by which its signatories "...demand the immediate release of Roman Polanski."  To date, it's collected over a hundred signatures from Hollywood notables.  I'm wondering just how many of these are legitimate and actual endorsements.  Even so however, the mere fact that there so much outrage at Polanski's arrest being expressed by various Hollywood folk says much about them and their "morals."

Polanski drugged and raped a thirteen year old girl.  He was tried, admitted his guilt, and then fled the country to stay out of prison.  Sorry, he needs be returned to the US and thrown in a prison cell to serve his time.  The fact that anyone would express "outrage" at the "injustice" of this is pretty stunning.  And it's no surprise that it's the Left and Hollywood which are behind that manufactured "outrage" and that petition.
