9/11 - 2008

Folks,

Anyone wanna take any bets on how the day's coverage will be?

I'm betting that there'll be some requisite clips of the burning towers but that'll be about it.

You can bet your bottom dollar there'll be no mention - let alone video clips - of the falling people.  Too emotional, that.  What'll make that especially irksome is if the newsies then follow it up with images of dead American troopers in Iraq or Afghanistan.

American civilians dying due to terrorism is to much but American soldiers dying fighting terrorism isn't.  Yeah, go figure.

On the political front, 9/11 will not be a good day for Obama and Biden.

Any reminder that the world was, is and will always be a scary place doesn't bode well for the Democrats and in particular for the junior Senator from Illinois.

9/11/02 was so full of drippy wailing ceremonies that I couldn't watch any of it.  The years since?  Well, it seems like that day is being deliberately pushed into being ancient history.  Custer's last stand or Ethan Allen's trek seem almost more current.  At least on the day to day level.  For most Americans.  Especially as the mainstream media reports it.

Yeah, it'll be an interesting day alright.
