First class last night! I'm a student!

There was a bit where someone erroneously directed me to the sixth floor of an un-air-conditioned elevator-free building ten minutes before the class started, but after that it all went well.

The class is Legal and Ethical Environment of Public Administration. I like the professor, which is good because I also have her for Organization Theory online this semester. It's going to be a lot of work, but I think it's going to be good and edifying work.

It's a little weird to be back. I haven't had assigned reading in so very long. I don't even remember what writing a 12 page research paper is like, really. It's going to be a whole thing. I think I'm going to be much, much better at it this time around. In fact, I'll go so far as to say I'm determined to be a better student. I have a job and a husband and a life; I can't afford the kind of stress I used to inflict on myself. Just won't do it. Going to have to find another way. From here that doesn't sound so hard. You just do the work, right? Hah. Well, we'll find out how it goes in practice.

Came home to find Tyler had cleaned the apartment, done all the laundry, hung some more posters, made curried veggies, and bought me champagne and flowers to celebrate my first day. I am so very, very well taken care of.

It's not the flowers or the food per se (though let's not scoff at those things, they are wonderful) or even the clean apartment that knocks me off my feet. It's the message and the promise there. We made the decision to do school together and agreed early on that it was a team effort. I took care of Tyler and managed a lot of the business of us, the bills and cleaning and whatnot, while he was in school. He's there for me now.

being married, good little life, tyler is awesome, grad school, change is good
