It was Jason-moving weekend (a success, Jason lives in the apartment next door now) but somehow it turned into many other things as well.
Friday
I cut out of work a little early and went climbing. Built some muscles, reinforced some calluses, didn't push it too hard. Came home, oohed and ahhed at Jason's new place (he has a skylight!) then ate the traditional New Apartment Chinese Take-Out and went to bed early.
Saturday
Got going early-ish and moved the bulk of Jason's stuff out of his old place and into his new place. I am still not a fully stairs-compatible person, especially carrying weight, so I was less helpful for the moving-out part, which involved stairs, and more helpful for the moving-in part, which involved elevator. Jason had a truck, Jeff and Liz came up to help and we made short work of moving many things. Managed to be done with the carrying and on to enjoying celebratory beers in our apartment before the very hottest part of the day.
Then we napped for a bit, and headed down to College Park, met Liz at her fabulous new-ish place. It has art and giant porch and a yard with a hammock: I am quite a fan.
Hopped the metro into DC to catch
The Mynahbirds at the Black Cat. It was a tremendously fun show. I still have
Radiator Sister in my head. The lead singer is a friend of Tyler's from high school, so we spent some time chatting with her, before heading back home to Baltimore.
Sunday
Jason and I had planned to go climbing, but my joints voted no. Instead we perused the Farmer's Market under the JFE overpass, which I had never been to. It's big and exciting and full of things; I approve and will return. Came home with armloads of produce and proceeded to set up a sandwich bar for Amy and Nate and eat delicious produce-full sandwiches. Amy and Nate started talking about the wonders of
Robert E Lee Park, so on a whim we up and went, and wound spending the better part of two hours poking around trails around Lake Roland. Now that I see
the map, I'm especially pleased we gave up our plan to walk around the lake as soon as we did.
Recovered from that adventure with popsicles and chat before sending people on their way. Then had a domestic little evening with tasty sandwich leftovers. Cleaned up the place and turned armloads of basil from the farmer's market into pesto for freezing, and went to bed feeling moderately accomplished.
And now it's a whole new week.
