So, life is actually pretty great...

I've started working quasi-full time at the job in DC, and it's still fun and exciting. (It's not quite 40 hours a week, but the woman I'm filling in for had her baby and I've moved into her office and I have a regular schedule.) I'm settling into the routine, getting to know people around the office and I really like it.

At home, snow is melting and the sidewalks are finally visible. I've been out walking around. Baltimore is somewhat lovely; not spring yet, but something not quite so soul-crushingly gray and frozen as the last few weeks. Indoors, the computer is finally fixed, which is a relief for any number of reasons, not least I can use my ipod again.

Derby bout this weekend was a lot of fun. My first time being in charge of the setup process, and it went well. We had the floor put together in record time, though more of the credit for that goes to Tyler than me - he's good with plywood and strategy. I was sad not to be bouting; it's hard to watch everyone else gear up and skate and celebrate wins and losses and... sigh I'm looking forward to being back on the track. But it was good. I finally feel like people know who I am, and how much work I'm doing, and that I'll be skating again soon. Even if I'm not on a team at the moment, in the larger sense I'm part of the team. It's a good feeling.

Practice tonight didn't happen, but only because my ride forgot about me. The knee is feeling better - final diagnosis: a sprain. I've got a good brace and am theoretically back in action. Excited to put theory into practice.

I have a new phone! It's red. I'm still transferring numbers over, but I have to say this modern technology is exciting, I can take pictures and download ringtones and all kinds of newfangled things. Next thing you know they'll be making carriages with no horses at all!

So that's... my work, my city, my possessions, my boy, my hobby... all being sort of wonderful.
