My least favorite moment (Joe the Friggin Plumber aside) was on abortion and judicial nominees.McCain: I would consider anyone in their qualifications. I do not believe that someone who has supported Roe v. Wade that would be part of those qualifications. But I certainly would not impose any litmus test.
What happened to the Straight Talk Express, John? Seriously. You can't have it both ways, you just can't. (And if you start formulating an answer about how Obama did the same thing, stop, take a minute to look at the transcript and see where he talked about actual judicial philosophy and a belief in the importance of a right to privacy. Yes, it's different.)
Did anyone else notice he hammered Obama twice for voting against Justice Breyer? Who was appointed by clinton in 1994. And he just misspoke, I guess, and I shouldn't make a thing of it, but... meh. I hated his performance. It was awful. Joe the Plumber, seriously?
The time I actually screamed at the TV was the third or fourth time he called Obama 'eloquent' and it was clearly an insult. Presidents shouldn't speak well, apparently. Anyone who can speak well is a liar.
I really should get to working now, but... I'm reading the transcript and my memory wasnt' wrong: sometimes it was like he was just playing 52-pickup with his talking points. Raise taxes! Pork! Six of hearts! Earmarks! Terrorist! Raise taxes! Special Needs Families!
Anyone else notice even McCain couldn't bring himself to say Sarah Palin would be a good president? He didn't. He said she'd be his partner and she understands special needs families and Barack Obama wants to raise your taxes.
Did you notice the part where he wants to take veterans directly from the battlefield to the classroom with little kids? Did anyone else have some reservations about that?
