Hey Guys
Here's a poem I wrote for this week's livejournal. It does not link directly with what we were doing this week but I wrote it all the same.
Heroes
A young boy I merely was,
When a great journey I embarked upon.
Shoved some strong desire in a bag; and
Jammed some good advice tight in my swag.
And to those great men and women,
Who assisted in my packing,
And kicked me out the front door
It is you whom I am thanking.
There was Jesus, and
Peter Brock of course,
MJ soaring mighty high, and
Eddie’s rocking sauce.
There was Jesus, and
A man I called my Pa, who spoke
Of when Sir Bradman ventured out to bat;
And a bloke they call my dad.
There was Jesus of course,
Who taught us how to live,
To sacrifice it all for love,
Walk humbly and forgive.
There was Peter Brock;
A Mighty King in deed,
9 times a champion of the mountain;
Forever a legend of the human race.
MJ: Air Jordan he was known,
Re-wrote the boundaries,
Of land and sky: And
Entered the unknown.
Eddie sung with intelligence and genius, and
Rocked throughout the land,
Against acts of ill in our hard world,
In a band they call Pearl Jam.
There was Jesus, and
Peter Brock of course,
MJ soaring mighty high, and
Eddie’s rocking sauce.
There was Jesus, and
A man I called my Pa, who spoke
Of when Sir Bradman ventured out to bat;
And bloke they call my dad.
Raymond, Called Bernie was my Pa,
Who taught me how to laugh,
To act with integrity and honour
Those we love.
There was Bradman,
A warrior of sorts,
Who fought with blade of willow,
Against the English hoards.
There was one man that was
Determined, always working hard;
To me he appeared so strong, never looking sad:
He was the bloke they call my dad.
Integrity and Honour,
Humour and Humility,
Determination and Desire,
They imparted upon me.
Love and Loyalty,
Bravery and Brains,
To me they gave these traits,
And indebted I remain.
There was Jesus, and
Peter Brock of course,
MJ soaring mighty high, and
Eddie’s rocking sauce.
There was Jesus, and
A man I called my Pa, who spoke
Of when Sir Bradman ventured out to bat;
And a bloke they call my dad.
