Elisabeth Moss in Speed-the-Plow!

I just got back from seeing Elisabeth Moss on Broadway. And of the three actors in the entire cast, I really think she was the best. Raul Esparza was fantastic, and he had some amazing moments, but Jeremy Piven seemed to be holding back a lot and trying too hard to be somewhat moody and damaged. But the role Elisabeth Moss had was basically written for her. She was Peggy with a twist, but that's all I can say without giving games away. For me, the highlight of the show was its second act, which literally was just her giving a very passionate speech to Jeremy Piven for about 15-20 minutes.
I suppose the one down-side of seeing her in this is that it made me realize how limiting the role of Peggy is. I mean, nobody is denying that she is amazing on Mad Men, least of all me, but, I never realized just how amazing she could be. Peggy, aside from a few moments such as the one in the season 2 finale, is a somewhat static character. She's very quiet yet determined. In this play, we got to see Moss play a character that was out of her shell and already at the level of confidence that Peggy is building toward. If this is any indication of what Peggy might become in later seasons, then the best from Moss is yet to come, and let me tell you, it is better than you can imagine.
