Bullshit moment of the day: sitting in my bathtub reading National Geographic's water issue, thinking about having to go pick up a bag of ice every evening this week because my refrigerator is broken and my maintenance guy is useless and my food is in an ice chest in my kitchen and how that is---not at all like this woman in Ethiopia who spends eight hours a day carrying her jerry cans to the Toiro River to spoon muddy moisture from seeps in the drying riverbed and carrying them back to her village to water a few meager plants in her garden, to weigh quenching her children's thirst and making them sick from bacterial contamination, praying for rain. Not even remotely the same. What a luxury to strive for frozen water.
