For once everyone showed up on time last night. Which was wasted, because it seemed like most of the party hadn't levelled up in the downtime, and we ended up waiting for people to finish that before we started.

Ultimately a short session--just as well, I had a sore throat--in which I covered a bit of prophecy with something that seemed to resonate fairly well, a combat that introduced some evidently recurring villains--Farragut the Strangler, Cedraal the Apostate, and Halfdan the Shadowed, though the only name the characters actually got was Cedraal's--hopefully some questions about those three, their motivations, their connections to the other NPCs...

Essentially, if the previous adventure was the end of the arc, this session was the prologue of the new arc. Overall I intend for this arc to be more open ended, giving the players the choices of which story threads to pursue in which order, and generally offering chances for the players to direct what parts of the story they're interested in examining.

I have a lot of things planned, so that's good, but it's going to be a bit nerve-wracking in some ways to transition from having everything planned out well in advance in detail to having to just loosely plot out where each option might go...oh well. I'm very much comfortable enough with the system now that I can do this by the seat of my pants without many problems, especially since I know what's going on and why--it's just a matter of what the players get to when.
