Chatting With Older MAten
I haven't chatted with Mike Aten (older brother to the popular writer and 2005 Magic Invitational luminary Tim Aten aka Younger TAten) in, hrm, five years or so.
He randomly IM'd me today to instruct me that "I mean" does not count as punctuation. Mike is not as omnipresent on the tournament scene as Tim is, but has good taste and therefore listens to the Magic Podcasts I run with BDM and others.
Mike attempted to defeat me at Deck Game with an obscure Deadguy Red + Derelor concoction run by his brother at a late 1990's Reality Recess tournament (and was defeated obviously), but ended up providing very useful chats. He suggested two artists I didn't know, the Fiery Furnaces and Metric to be added to my Jenny Lewis Pandora station and now that station is basically the nut high, functioning much better than any of my other five: The Jenny Lewis station has been playing all kinds of chick rock I have never heard before that I don't want to automatically want to fast forward through.
