Counting steps.

And I was in the jungle.  Looking for a little energy.  And I see this tiger, pacing back and forth, on the same 10 foot patch of grass.  So, I ask, "Pray tell, dear tiger, what worries you?"  And the tiger says, "nothing that I know of, I am out here, free as a bird, unfettered, unchained."  And I said, "But you're in a cage.  At least you act like you're in a cage.  You should be roaming far and wide, but you only pace back and forth, in a cage of your mind."  And the animal said, "no, I am chasing rabbits.  Who deserve to be eaten, as they have proved to be most insensitive."  "But I don't see any rabbits around here," and the tiger snapped, "That's just what a rabbit would say!"  So, the tiger lunged at me, with the force of seven drunken hillbillies, but was stopped by the limits of his cage, which was his mind.  I didn't bother to taunt him, but only said, "I was planning on sending you a thumb drive, with all this information on it, but I don't think you ever learnt to read, oh tiger, from the looks of you.  All I see are the lines in your fur entwined with the lines of an unreal cage, and no text between, only your days, which are numbered, and always have been."  "Oh, boy, I am eating you now."  "I don't think that would go over well, seeing as I am your brother in law."  "Silly rabbit, full of Jewish propaganda!"  So, the tiger lunged again, but this time skirted violently to one side, as if to escape someone snapping a wet towel or sweater.  "Say what you will, oh, tiger, but you are not free.  You don't see your boundaries.  Whereas - me - I am free, and my safety comes from seeing you, and the boundaries you have built with your own dutiful obedience."  "Obedience?  To what?"  "The fear of being eaten like a rabbit."  "Eh!  That's just an old wives' tail."  So I lay down and tried to get some sleep.
