Where do I start?
They were political, a little, in a good way. Lots of social criticism.
They were black and white.
They included Afro-pop, Ska and Reggae.
They were UK and indie.
They had an amazing an accessible / danceable sound.
They kept evolving, including into Special Beat Service, and General Public.
They were about the music.
They were full of passion.
They were experimental.
They were cool.
They were outlandish.
They were better than the Clash at what they did.
They mixed up sounds and influences.
They branched out in all directions.
I just love the English Beat, (and General Public). I'll post a mix of their songs later.
In the meantime. You know what you wanna do, boss.
