A little Christmas nugget for you.

Observation - cognition - is simply an extension of a physical, dynamic process in the universe, which perpetually creates time.

How we create words and concepts, and laws, is based on a natural, physical process, which involves every being, object atom and particle.  It is the constant shifting of relativity versus apparent absolute reality, as seen from an, 'inertial', frame of reference.

Quantum physics refers to the ambiguity inherent in this dynamic, "quantum uncertainty," where, fr mathematically purposes, everything is regarded as beign in a superstate, containing all possible outcomes, until it is not.

Schrödinger's Cat does not express its reality until we observe it.  And time moves ahead.

So, there is no such thing as time, in nature, which does not involve observation, and the physical processes underlying it.

It was once postulated that there might be a little "demon" in a "box" who could shuffle the atoms of a gas back into the more ordered state of a solid.  In other words, an agent which could reverse entropy, and so time.  Physicists agree that this is not really possible.

Not possible to turn back time, as it is not possible to put the cold air back into the fridge; to put the steam back into the kettle, to put the explosion back into the bomm.  Entropy is one reason why travelling back in time is also impossible, on a macro scale.

However, the act of observation, which creates time and entropy, can be said to be a kind of, "Maxwell's Demon," projecting order - and meaning - upon chaos.  So, not only perceiving meaning, but also creating meaning, physically, really, as time is created, and moved along.

It is necessary that time move forward in an entropic fashion, however, in order for this dynamic to play out.

Even though it does not reverse entropy, as measured by us in our time, Observation is Maxwell's Demon.

physics - observation, physics - time (and space-time), time - & see physics - time, +, entropy - maxwell's demon
