I liked Joyce Riley so much that I made an LJ community based on her show, pretty much. She was a Texas nurse who exposed another nurse who was going around secretly killing patience. As if that wasn't enough of a claim to fame, she then went on to become the leading advocate for the rights and needs of people who experienced tragic health issues from the Gulf War, known as chronic Gulf War Illness - a syndrome closely resembling CFS. She was all over the talk shows.
Then, she got her own talk show, which was the best thing on shortwave radio - also broadcast on many AM stations - called, "The Power Hour." (Last I knew, that show was still going, hosted by lesser talkers). That show was syndicated via
GCN and
WWCR. Yes, these had Christian and conservative biases, but the show aired so many different views and ideas, and Joyce was a very open-minded and caring person. She really, really wanted to do the right and the best thing.
I think she was once written up in Wikipedia, as well she should have been - but there is no more Wiki page for her. Joyce lost her battle with cancer a number of years ago. Very sad.
I am making this post as a result of researching Alan Watt, who is also not in Wikipedia. One of his videos was
banned on YouTube in February of 2021. In March of 2021,
he died mysteriously.
Please remember Joyce via my tag for her
HERE.
Here is Alan Watt on the Power Hour, in May and July of 2014. I should be doing an Alan Watt post at DW. Not to be confused with Alan Watts. Although there is overlap.
