Scientists Hope To Broadcast DNA and Earth's Location For Curious Aliens "Even if the aliens are short, dour and sexually obsessed," the late cosmologist Carl Sagan once mused, "if they're here, I want to know about them."
Seriously, broadcasting our DNA info, possibly to hundreds of advanced civilisations, so they don't even have to come here before they know how to manipulate our DNA? This is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. Carl Sagan felt just fine expounding these lofty ideals, tucked in the safe insulation of Ithaca, but you ask someone in Ukraine if they want aliens finding out about us, and possibly coming to mess with our DNA, or even bringing super-humans they have already created, and they will say, "No! We've got enough problems!"
What if the aliens are not short little freaks but super-intelligent, sadistic psychopaths? Good that we know about them, hey? They know way more about us.
