How Long Must We Sing This Song?

Apr 17, 2022 17:48

Coming across this old favourite the other day, I knew I had to post it for Easter.  Is it a song decrying the violence in Ireland, or in Selma, Alabama, or anywhere else?  Well, there have been a bloody shitload of Bloody Sundays in modern history, so take your pick.  How long must we sing this song?!

Everybody is on a mission to shine their right, but this is the gravest of errors. The most missionary of manias. I have studied this dementia my entire life. And now it is as close as my own sister. When will they ever learn? It never stops. And, you who are fascist Russians, on a path to explaining away your own Right? What do you know? You only betray your own failure, just by all the words you spew, endlessly. How many innocent lives will be lost because of your vain words, prolonging this "Right"? And, you in the West, did you never push your capitalist Right beyond your own domain, into the sanctity of a land having no need or want of you?

Interestingly, all the Bloody Sundays are so because they happen on Sundays. It's true, enemies try to pulverize their foes on days they know are sacred. All the better to surprise them. And then outrage them. Can you imagine if we held no abstractions to heart, at all? But, we are fools. (So far, being fools has benefitted our survival, overall). This even happens when the elites want to stun their own peoples. They like to do it on holy days. But, it is also true - more true - that war's bloodshed occurs every day of the week. But, we don't have, "Bad Friday," or, "Sad Wednesday." Because we are almost as blind as our enemies, we do not see, as much, the suffering of war that goes on, every day of the week, or every minute beyond CNN, or every instant we do not have our hands clasped in prayer. The blood gushes and runs beyond Sunday, I am sorry to say.

But, I thought it might be nice, maybe a tad short of ironic(?), to celebrate today's Easter by bringing attention to the war, and the hate, and the sins, of our very kin, that still goes on. For, while we paint our eggs, and egg on our kids, this is when we are more naive, and most susceptible to attack. And our leaders? More likely to attack others. This clash, this contrast, this dissonance, this paradox - it will be with us until the end.

You know me, babies. I side with the true values of Christianity. Especially at home, face-to-face, in the real world. Here and now. I do believe that Western values are the best, unless they include competition for the sake of competition, or bugger they neighbour, only we know best or so on. Many of the values that may seem so self-evident, in a manifest-destiny sort of way, to may westerners, are simply the sins and hubris and destructiveness of primate self-aggrandisement, same as it ever was. But they won't see it. Because, money. basically.

So, there are a lot of ways that people rationalise killing other people. Which starts with the sadistic compulsion to hurt other people. With often starts with greed, or jealousy, or hate, or your basic biblical stuff, ironically. (Ironically because these idiots always think they are coming up with something new). Well, everyone knows that godless communism, and atheist anti-capitalist terrorists, and soulless infidels and animals and psychopaths and freaks all do very much to instigate violence and bloodshed in this world. Remember that I am aware of this.

But there are also those damned fundamentalists and religionists, and, in this country, your just bland milk-toast idiot Christian go-along to get-along fart-bag NAZIs. Because, listen. Narcissism, which can lead to psychopathic mayhem, can come from anywhere, just so long as there are abstractions to rationalise it. Sometimes, Christians, so-called, they are the worst! Tell me it ain't so! How long? The troubles in Ireland were between two genetically related people, speaking the same language, belonging to the same over-religion of Christianity. and, therefore, there was endless bloodshed. Not like Ukraine, today, but pretty much the same mentality.

So, on this fine Easter Sunday, which is just fine, don't want to bring you down, I thought it would be nice, if not appropriate, if not some kind of militant mission, to illustrate the other side of Sunday: The hypocrisy and hate behind so-called Christians, who, like sheep, may fall behind this war campaign or that. And get us all killed, or not. Depending. Christianity is a good thing. But, you know. TOOOO MUCH... And then most of the wars of the world end up being about it, flol. So, just as the elites choose this day to do their dirty work, I choose it to point out the dirt that lets them get away with it. Check out this nifty post and comment stream from an LJ friend, who shall remain unnamed, but live a pretty good life nonetheless, yo... Here we go...

Again - my True Christian friends know exactly what I am talking about...

POST BY A FRIEND:

This is the kind of shit that's all over my stupid Facebook right now. Syrupy... bullshit. I mean. I get it. Jesus was humble and washed the feet of whores and the poor. That's fine. I just get so tired of people's religion. Especially around Easter. All these things just feel really fake and forced. Sunday all my feed is going to be "HE IS RISEN" and all the replies will be "HE IS RISEN INDEED!" why? Shut the fuck up. It's like when people write "praying" "prayers" and shit under a post about a wreck or something. Typing "praying" doesn't count as a prayer. How many of those people stop, put their phone down, and clasp their hands to pray. Zero! Or vague "pray for me" "okay prayer warriors" might as well just type: I want attention.

I don't know why I fucking look at that app. It just makes me mad. I just want to see the alerts page where the gun obsessed weirdo with the scanner tells us what wrecks have happened in the county but I scroll and look at stupid shit. Happy Easter, honse.

PART OF COMMENT THREAD:

In two thousand years, people might say of me, "He brushed his teeth!" I mean was it so backwards back then that washing feet was such a big deal?

These people are like ghosts amongst us. They are like phantoms leaking through from a parallel universe. They're not really here on Earth. They miss the whole point of "Jesus is risen." It doesn't mean going around asking people, "Are you blessed?! Are you saved?" Like, mind your damn business.

The real point is that Jesus is with us now, so act like Jesus would, don't worry that it's not perfect, and you won't have any need for all this stupid sanctimonious rhetoric. When we BE HERE NOW then their fake ass jesus will fade away.

That's really poignant. I'm not really religious anymore. I see fakeness and boastfulness in church. Everyone competing who can be the most perfect Christian. While not really helping anyone but still coming away with a sense of self-fulfillment. Like when people "pay it forward" in line at the Starbucks drive through. The people behind you don't need their stuff paid for. They're in the line because they have the money for it. So you're not doing a good deed but damn it FEELS like it. I just want to be a good person where I can. There's a verse that more people should follow:

Matthew 6:5-7
5) And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. Truly I tell you, they already have their full reward. 6) But when you pray, go into your inner room, shut your door, and pray to your Father, who is unseen. And your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. 7) And when you pray, do not babble on like pagans, for they think that by their many words they will be heard.…

But they don't want to to talk about that one.

AND THERE YOU HAVE IT.

IF YOU HAVE A FRIEND OR RELATIVE OR OFFICE WORKER WHO IS ON A MISSION OF RIGHT DO THEM IN!

The artificial edifice of humanity ignores one supreme fact: EVERYONE IS ALWAYS WRONG.

Wipe the tears.

PS: I was finally able to take dog for a walk around here.  First he's had, ever.  Sunday, bloody Sunday. Play this song over and over in your head.

hypocrisy - religious hypocrisy, religion - christianity - errant, music - u2, war * / wars / war and peace, holidays - easter
