I am having a descent back into relapse, i.e., brain pain.  I thought I'd note the latest madman research on what is happening.

Large increases of cytokines are released in the body, some time after stress, thought, exercise, or anything that makes cells do anything, for instance, being alive.  The more stress, the greater the subsequent, "cytokine storm."  I am more predisposed to stress, as from sudden sharp sounds, bright light, annoying people, wrong food, any food, etc.  It's a hair-trigger, just getting along, and trying not to plunge into a cytokine storm.  These storms act - overreact - as if some virus, or such, is invading the body.  They think they are helping - (too much of a good thing) - but they are being ridiculous and excessive.  We don't know if they are actually reacting to anything at all.  It's probably just something gone wrong.

When cytokines increase, the brain dehydrates, (as lymph fluid, and cerebrospinal fluid), tries to flush out the imaginary invader.  In addition, cytokines have a direct toxic effect upon the brain and thinking, which also affects the heart, and all other systems.  So, this is contrary to how the body wants to flow, along a circadian wave(s).  While the cytokine storm causes the dehydration (etc.) the body still tries to continue with it's circadian movement.  Dehydration, slowed organs, narrowing blood vessels and arteries, all contradict this attempt.  Therefore, spasms in tiny blood vessels, who are moving contrary to the normal schedule, go into spasms, creating migraine headaches.  These are, "full body," events.

If I push myself too much in the morning, while there remain still too many cytokines in the morning, then I crash back into relapse, which then causes stress, which causes more cytokines to be released, in a loop.  This happens when I expend too much attention on something, too soon, too early, and when I drinking even the slightest amount of caffeine.  While caffeine can increase wonderful attention, many people know that, if your nerves are racked, caffeine will only make that worse, relative to your otherwise calmer state.  So it is with people w/ CFS, except elevated to an insane level.  If one were moving along the circadian wave(s) properly, and there was no dehydration in the circulatory system, then attention would increase without a problem, other than a little insomnia later.

But, if there are cytokines, especially a massive storm of cytokines, already dehydrating the blood, then migraines, pain, intense fatigue, poor cognition, and organ slowdowns occur.  Caffeine only narrows the blood vessels even more, and so intensifies the negative effects of CFS.  Thus, I normally have to wait patiently until I feel I am ready for my decaf mocha, or ready for thought, or ready for being awake, etc., before I can proceed with anything at all.  This is a delicate and uncertain dance, and always fails at some point.  Now, I must see if I can do a nap, to try to get back to the roll I was on...

PS - Didn't even mention consequent brain inflammation!  Also, any change in the circadian wave(s) causes major stress to the body and consquently more relapse.
