Start Wreck

Recently, in the space of one day, I viewed about 5 shows or videos, all of which included some mention of hot chocolate, yum.  Or mocha, or related.  I began to wonder if this was some kind of common writing motif I should take note of.

Watching, Star Trek Next Generation: The psychic Greek woman with the knockers sat down alone to have a cup of hot chocolate, yum.  She pressed some buttons on a microwave, but this microwave actually created the mug filled with the drink, right out of thin air.  She takes the mug over to a table, sits it down, takes a sip, yum.  Sits it down while she reads her schedule for next month.  Then, something, out of nowhere, knocks over her mug of hot chocolate.

And Diana is like, wtf?  This is very strange!  How did something invisible knock over my cup?!  And I'm like, I'll tell you what's strange, boob lady: You just made a cup of hot chocolate appear out of thin air and somehow you are surprised by it getting knocked over by something invisible?!  Lol.

Before going to sleep last night, I switched on the TV briefly, as is the fashion in this house, and the original Star Trek was on.  The crew saw things getting knocked over by invisible forces, but, in this case, the invisible forces were only invisible because they were people accelerated to lightning-fast speeds.  They were zipping around so fast, no normal person could see them.  Now there is a thoughty concept I can actually sink my teeth into.

Did you know that the original Star Trek came up with the idea of teleportation - where people stand in a special place getting all blurry, then disappear onto the surface of the desired planet - because it was the fastest way for the TV show to move the story along.  It wasn't any special futuristic Gene Roddenberry idea.  They just wanted to save time and money by getting the actors from one place to another really fast, although they were confronted by great distances and obstacles in space.  In theory.  I guess I wrecked that fantasy some of you have been carrying around all your lIves.  I am so sorry.

teletransportation, invisibility, roddenberry - gene, tv - 'start treck', food - hot chocolate, funny - and see humour/ my funny
