Long ago, I once told a friend that, "What this country needs is a really good depression." He found that funny. But, I was serious. It just so happened that this country did in fact go through a major depression, which is now called, "The Great Recession of 2008." Fascinating theory. I often (as in every day) wonder how happy optimistic people even exist in the same world as I do, see what I see, and reach such wildly different views of life. Thank you for this.

They are an odd lot indeed.

I'm sorry if you are sometimes depressed - or just practical? I think the latter would describe me, against all odds.

I do look forward to following up this post with the differences in info-processing between mania, depression, etc. I am glad you enjoyed.

Definitely depressed. Although it's difficult to distinguish sometimes between my practical/ realistic/ "normal" pessimistic approach and distortions caused by depression.

Thank you for this very honest comment. You perceive something that is both a philosophical question for me, and a psychological reality. I would like to explore this grey area more sometime.

When am I real, and when I am depressed? And what does this difference, or lack thereof, mean? It's very interesting. What makes a sane, real, normal person? Or are all such people mentally ill? From the movie I watched last night, I am reminded that so much, if not all, of this is political.

Alas, no good posts right now, I am off to the Doldrums...
