Cooked the chicken. Made the coffee. Did dishes. Made more fermented chocolate, and magic milk, drinks. Small amount of tidying. Leaving off another day 'til I make burritos. Laundry, library, maybe movie downtown tomorrow.
Heard three great black women on radio today.
1 - Stephanie, calling in to Thom Hartmann show, speaking much about devastation of rural America by Big Ag, Big Box, Dollar Stores, lenders, etc., ironically leaving great swaths of food deserts. "America is sinking!" And she understood why people voted for Trump. Another caller noted that poor men, (mostly Irish immigrants), were forced to go to war for money, race, or ideals, during the Civil War, when all they were doing was dying for the benefit of big slave plantations, or Northern corporations. People - economics - haven't changed.
2 - Angela Casey, a professor at Chapel Hill, speaking adroitly about the situation of immigrant workers in Mississippi, etc., on WBCR's, "Here and Now." (See also via NPR).
3 - This: Sister Helen Prejean On Witnessing Executions: 'I Couldn't Let Them Die Alone' - Woops - she isn't black - oh well same diffy...
The Catholic nun became an outspoken opponent of the death penalty following the events in her book Dead Man Walking. Her new memoir, River of Fire, details her spiritual journey up to that point.
