winter has arrived
well well, snow on the mountaintops yesterday - very unusual to get snow around here, but we had it yesterday and it made me feel all merry and christmassy :)
things here have remained good since i last updated. Cabbage is a little rascal but i love him to bits and i don't like the thought that i do have to look for a new home for him sooner or later :( in the meantime, check out more cute piccies of him on facebook! cuuuute!
having said in my last entry that there's no way i'd stay another year... errrrrr. i had a bit of a flip-reverse on that one. now thinking very very seriously about staying another year. i like my job. i like the other JETs who work near me and 2 of them are staying next year for sure. i have just opened some new and exciting doors to other areas of japanese culture via japanese literature *albeit translated into english) and sumi (a japanese style of calligraphy-art that uses black ink only) and buddhism (i am finding meditation is actually really really helpful for so much stuff!). also loving my yoga class so much - did my first ever head stand the other week - something i NEVER thought i would be able to even attempt. oh and i start my new russian lessons from a native speaker 2-hours a week as of next weekend.
not that i don't want to come home loads, i do. it's just, i don't know if i am ready to say goodbye to this place yet. once i leave my position in this village, it is not something i can ever come back to. sure, i could live and work in one of the big cities or something if i left japan and changed my mind later. but this is where my japan-home is. so it is here or nothing for me.
hmmmm. going to be a very very tough choice to make this year. HMMMMMMMM.
alrighty, i had better cut this ramble short today - i have to go and prepare a model-version of a home-made xmas cracker that i am having the kids make in my evening class tomorrow night. no "bang" things in the middle - no crackers in japan, so no "bang" things either! d'oh! but hey, it's the next best thing! think i shall make a cottage pie for dinner tonight too. get me nice and warmed up!
