joanna in reel life-- the sky is falling, jimmy

the perks of managing a theater: films. the perks of having a livejournal: abuse :)

here's a new segment i'm gonna call "joanna in reel life" and yes, only about 1% of theaters are still using 35mm film (a dying technology) but i still like the name... and it's 4am so i do what i want. :) each post will contain NON-LENGTHY thoughts (i solemnly promise to attempt) on current releases that may cite pros/cons, things to love/hate, or reasons to see/skip... but will probably just be ramblings about actors, cinematography, and score.

seriously guys, what else am i going to do with my life?! :)

SKYFALL

daniel craig can't help being a sexy beast. and with double-oh holding true to his lady-loving ways, this is all a good thing. dame judi remains the best m, sharp yet loving all in one. javier bardem creeps up the villainy... due only in part to his blonde hair. sam mendes needs some serious props too for taking the wheel after the disaster that was QUANTUM OF SOLACE and renewing the faith of this bond girl with something entertaining, understandable, and viciously thrilling.

naked silhouettes return alongside adele's catchy theme, as well as a few more kick-backs to the old days that die-hards won't miss. intended or not, SKYFALL is a love letter to 50 years of bond, getting all things right despite it's two-plus-hours run time.

best moment: any time jimmy isn't wearing a shirt/is wearing a tux because the lord almighty loves me, ok?

best line: "youth is not a guarantee of innovation."

watched: 11/10/12
with: my mother

snacks: pizza, milk duds, popcorn
