Avatar news

I seem to have lost a Netflix. Dammit. I can't find the envelope anywhere. I know it arrived. I hadn't opened it yet. It's GONE. I must have accidentally thrown it away. Dagnabbit.

Thanks for all the macros yesterday! They were awesome. And thanks for the coffee recs, although I've come to the conclusion that one simple fact overrides everything...I just don't want to make it myself.

Okay, "Avatar" fans. There's big news, namely that there's going to be a sequel series starting up in 2011. It's going to be set 70 years after the events of the first series, and will focus on Korra, the Avatar after Aang. She's 16 and from the Southern Water Tribe and she's trying to find a master to teach her airbending, having mastered the other three - and she eventually finds one, namely Aang's son Tenzin.

Much rejoicing in the fandom (judging by the one LJ post I read) although people are bummed out that by that math, Aang only lived into his sixties. Kind of a ripoff considering that Avatar Kyoshi lived to be 230. Plus nobody wants the ship wars to resume. The main canon pairing (see icon) is quite a bit less popular than an alternate fanon pairing. The fanon shippers also seem more virulent after having been rendered non-canonical by the events of the series, and they've been spending a lot of time post-series writing fic about how things changed afterwards to break up the canon pairing and come around to THEIRS. If the new series verifies that the canon pairing lived happily ever after and had a family and all that jazz...well, it's back to fanon land. Not that that's a bad thing.
