Today we are doing bullet points.
- Long weekend yay. I have no concrete plans so far but some hiking is definitely on the menu and I'm hoping to take friede out as well. I keep thinking of fun outdoor things I'd like to do (go to the zoo, maybe) but then I keep remembering that it's a holiday weekend and every damn place is going to be swarming with eight bozillion people and I am not down with that shit. I think on Monday I'll try and find a less mobbed state park for teh hikingz.
- Had another Moment of Realizing I'm Skinnier: I was over at Brian's on Wednesday night. We were sitting on his front lawn petting Emmitt the Wonder Dog. I was cross-legged on the grass. When it was time to go, I just uncrossed my legs, put my foot down and...I popped right up off the ground. No heaving, no struggling, no staggering, no groaning, no bracing. I just...stood up. That might not seem like a big thing to y'all but it kind of is.
- I have a date tonight. No comment.
- I am wearing a cute plaid halter-top sundress today. I feel summery!
- The weather here is AMAZING. All week it's been sunny skies, mid-seventies, low humidity. It's supposed to be gorgeous all weekend, too, although it is supposed to warm up some so we'll probably see mid-eighties for the weekend. No rain till Thursday. Better water my tomatoes.
- Dayna is coming home this weekend, yay! I miss her. She's been in Finland since mid-June.
- I am now devouring "Pillars of the Earth." My Kindle informs me I'm now 70% done. Prior Philip continues to be the BAMF of monks even if at this juncture in the book he is despondent and a sad panda. Did you know that there is an eight-part miniseries of this book airing this month on Starz? Philip is being played by Mathew MacFayden who is quite the BAMF himself, although he has to go up against the mother of all BAMFs, Ian McShane, playing Bishop Waleran, which is a little weird because in the book Waleran and Philip are about the same age and Ian McShane is like twice MacFayden's age. Still, psyched to see that. Do not have Starz but I do has the Tubes.
- Are you reading Hyberbole and a Half, and if not, WHY THE HELL NOT? I've spent the last couple evenings mainling all Allie's back posts and laughing myself into a hernia. She's gotten a lot of attention the last couple of weeks because everyone's been linking to her most recent post, This Is Why I'll Never Be An Adult, in which she talks about her periodic attempts to be responsible and do things like go to the bank and keep house Like a Grownup. I showed it to Eric last night and I thought he was going to wet himself with laughter.
- Did you ever have a pair of shoes so awesome, that felt so great on your feet, that you just wanted to walk for miles just so you could keep enjoying all the awesomeness that is your shoes? Them are these shoes.
They were an emergency quick-pick-something purchase at Famous Footwear (where there was an awesome sale, I might add) and I got super lucky. They're Naturalizers, the footbed is cork, they're so comfy but supportive and FABULOUS. And yes, I need a pedicure. Shut up.
