Evening of accomplishments

Wow, some days I feel extra industrious and some days I don't. When I do I try to take full advantage. I am apparently feeling super industrious this afternoon.

I left work and went to WalMart to see if they had the specific tomato planter I wanted. They did not, but I bought air filters for my beef jerky experiment and a few groceries. I got home, put things away, went straight up to my bedroom, changed into workout clothes and went for a run (I kinda love saying that even if it's less than 100% true).

I've moved on to Week 3 of Couch to 5K. That's a five minute warmup, then 90 seconds jog, 90 seconds walk, 3 minutes jog, 3 minutes walk, repeat those four, then five minute cooldown. I was a little scared of the three minutes walk. The longest I'd ever jogged before was 2 minutes. But I did it! And I tried something new...I jogged in my neighborhood instead of getting in the car and going to a trail or a park. It worked out great. It saves time, first of all...no travel time...and the atmosphere was distracting. I had to keep an eye on the uneven sidewalk, there were cars and people and houses and dogs and it kept my eyes moving around and my brain distracted so the time passed very quickly. The second 3-minute run wasn't easy, I was definitely waiting for my chime to stop, but overall I did the run without too much suffering! Yay! Three minutes might not sound like much, and it isn't, but when I started this program I couldn't have run that long, so hey, progress.

I got home and right away I got out my groceries. I want to try and duplicated that yummy portobello sandwich I had for lunch this week so I wanted to broil the caps NOW so they'd cool off in time for me to make a sandwich later. I basted them with some marinade (olive oil, balsamic vinegar and garlic, basically) and broiled two of them in a little toaster oven Eric has. While they were broiling I cleaned out the fridge and made iced tea and mixed up the mayo with capers that the recipe called for. When they were done I popped them into the fridge to cool off.

As soon as I post this blog entry I'm getting back in the car to go pick up Brian's mail, then I'm going to the garden center. You shall be mine, tomato planter!
