Psychic powers. I haz dem.

Check out my super speshul precognitive abilities.

Back in December, I wrote a movie preview article for "I Love You, Phillip Morris," the Jim Carrey gay-con-man film that might now be going direct to video (bummer). For no particular reason I was reading my preview last night and came across the following paragraph:

"I’m not encouraged, on the other hand, by Carrey in this film. In my preview of “Yes Man” I discussed the whiff of desperation that’s clinging to Carrey’s career of late. That film might as well have had a neon sign hanging over it that said “LOOK! A Jim Carrey film, just like you remember!” This one might as well have a neon sign hanging over it reading “LOOK! Jim Carrey playing a gay guy!” Next thing you know he’ll be singing in the film revival of “South Pacific” and then playing a mentally handicapped paraplegic with an inspiring dream to become a country singer. So, it’s no longer a question of if Carrey is on a crusade to recapture his box-office status, but of how far he’ll go to achieve it."

Emphasis mine.

Many of you probably heard that just about a month ago, it was announced that Jim Carrey's been signed as the lead in a new musical film of "Damn Yankees."

So set your watches for that mentally handicapped paraplegic. I think between this and my 2004 Obama prediction, I ought to start calling myself Madam Quinzilta and set up a shop for prognostication.

Anyway.

I had a very busy day yesterday. I drove down to Cincinnati in the morning to see the illustrious cassandraclare at a booksigning. We had breakfast at her hotel and then I watched her interact with all her hordes of adoring fans, it was quite awesome. Unfortunately she had to be whisked away to the airport right afterwards. I wasn't quite so lucky...when I got in my car the battery was dead. The lights had been left on. I can't figure out why the lights were on in the first place, it was a beautiful sunny day!

But people are nice sometimes. I was at the Info desk at the Barnes & Noble when a lady overheard me telling the clerk that I needed a two truck to jump my car, and she immediately told me that her husband would be glad to jump-start it for me. So he came outside and pushed the car out of its parking spot and hooked up the cables and off we went. I was very grateful, it saved me the cost of having a tow truck come out. It's good to be reminded that some people...a lot of people, actually...are glad to help someone out even when there's nothing in it for them.

So I got back to Columbus and immediately turned around and went out for dinner with Nancy and Rachel and Jim. I don't get to see Nancy so much anymore since she moved down to Russell, so that was nice, and she'll be in town again next weekend, so yay!

I spent last night writing my movie preview article and IMing with two different guys from OkCupid. Suddenly I'm the belle of the ball over there. I'm on one other dating site and it's so damn frustrating because I constantly get messages and smiles and winks or whatever from guys who live nowhere near me. Uh, it's nice you think I'm smokin hot, Mr. California, but no thanks. It's one thing to strike up a friendship/long-distance-thing with someone you meet through a common interest, but quite another to intentionally go into a quasi-romantic situation knowing the guy is two thousand miles away.

Relaxing day today. For the first time in what feels like forever I don't have a freelance job hanging over my head. My friend Becky sounded super stressed at work Friday between her kitchen renovation and her upcoming move and her son's ear tube surgery and her husband's long work hours so I told her I'd bring dinner over today, so I'm making them chicken and rice cream soup. I'm making pork and sauerkraut in the slow cooker for myself, that's a few days' meals right there.

I may actually get to stitch some today. Won't that be nice!
