Home again, home again, jiggity jig

Back in Columbus. The drive down kinda sucked. Bad weather, to the tune of heavy rain, fog and crazy insane wind that almost blew me into nearby semi trucks several times. I seriously considered stopping overnight in Lafayette, IN because I was so worn out, but about that time it cleared up and I pushed on.

I also experienced the wonders of truly independent computing. Just short of Columbus I had to get gas, so I pulled off into a small town. After getting gas I really felt like going to Der Dutchman for dinner and knew I could get there without getting back on the interstate, so I got out my laptop, plugged in the broadband modem, and easy peasy, I had Google Maps to guide me. IN MY CAR. I lurve technology.

So I spent a goodish portion of the weekend playing Guitar Hero with my cousins and now I want it. I've wanted to get a game console in the past (remember my unsuccessful hunt for a Wii?) and now I might actually do it. But should I get a Wii, or an Xbox? Xbox is cheaper and more readily available. Wii is cooler.

I'm glad I will have tomorrow to chill out before I go back to work on Monday, although I only have a three day workweek. We get Thursday off and I took Friday off.

I talked on the phone with my niece yesterday. She's so adorable. She said to me, "I miss you, Aunt Lori! I wish you could come here right now!"

I asked her if she liked the book I sent her. She said, "Poppy [my dad] read it to me, and he knew all the words!" I asked what her baby brother got for Christmas, and she said "Baby toys! I don't play with baby toys because I'm a big girl." She is, too. She'll be five in February, and I can't believe it.
