Damn, I have not been blogging very much, have I? It's been a pretty busy week. I've eaten out like four days out of five.
My college friend Tricia was in town again for business, so I saw her twice. Monday I picked her up and tried to take her to my favorite restaurant, but there was a 90 minute wait (!!) on a fricking MONDAY, which puzzled me until I remembered that OSU's move-in day was Sunday and the restaurant is fairly near campus, which means it was packed with everybody's bougie parents. We ended up at another of my favorite restaurants downtown, then out for Jeni's gourmet ice cream with Indie Dayna and Earlita of Sandwich. Tricia fell in love with the goat cheese & cherry compote, while I tried the heirloom melon sorbet for the first time. LOVE.
Tuesday it was the weekly dinner-with-the-Art!Peeps at the North Market, where I once again partook of delicious Vietnamese noodle soup, which is only marred by the presence of cilantro, which me no likey.
Last night Tricia and I decided to splurge so we went to the nicest restaurant in Columbus, a fancy French place with a wine list that comes in a three-ring binder. This is the sort of restaurant where, if one were so inclined, one could purchase a bottle of Lafite-Rothschild for $2500. I had a delicious beef carpaccio appetizer (I am such a slut for carpaccio, I can't even tell you) while Tricia had escargot, which she was thrilled to find was served in an original, non-puff-pastry-related fashion, in sort of a terrine-like presentation. I had a bite and man, was it good. I had the NY strip and she had the filet. Yum all around.
Tonight was boring. But the freelance dollahz are rolling in...I've got a two-article gig for a fashion magazine due this weekend plus my usual movie previews, plus the contact-lens people want me for TWO more short stories. Yippee! I have to really start focusing on putting cash aside to pay my taxes this year, as I will no doubt have to pay in a goodish chunk because none of my freelance income has taxes withheld. :-(
