Late night grocery outings

Jun 01, 2008 01:39

Felt like going out for coffee tonight so I went down to German Village. BtAG was working at the coffeehouse tonight. They were hella busy. I just sat in the corner and read fanfic and had a peaceful outing. I also wore my new llama necklace which I loved. It was like having a little friend with me. I must give him a name, I think.

On the way home I went grocery shopping (my actual intention when I left). Why is it that every time I go out "for a few things" I end up spending like $100? I had to pick up ingredients for a few upcoming recipes. I went to Meijer (which is a Super Wal-Mart kind of store, open 24 hours) which is supposedly the cheapest place in town but discovered that most things are cheaper at the Kroger when I usually go. Black beans were $.80 for the store brand at Meijer; they're fifty cents at Kroger. I pretty much buy a couple of cans of beans and diced tomatoes every time I'm at the store. I know I'll use them.

I guess it gets expensive when you're buying pantry-building type items. Tonight I bought Tabasco sauce.

I also wanted to buy an apron. Every time I cook I get crap all over my front. Splashes and stains, etc. I've taken to cooking topless, actually, which I don't recommend if you're sauteing anything. But guess what? No aprons! None! Fail.

Here, have a lolcat.
