Well, as is starting to be normal, I have a busy social calendar tonight.
My friend Joanna IMed me last night and invited me to a sing-along Messiah. I was thrilled. When I was in high school, my town had an annual Walk-In Messiah. The two high school orchestras teamed up to play the music, they hired four professional soloists and the chorus was comprised of whoever showed up and wanted to sing. It was a BLAST and I participated all four years, although my last was as a singer and not in the orchestra due to still-embittering circumstances which I won't go into now.
I haven't participated in such an event since, but at a local church tonight they're having something similar, except that they're only doing the choruses and there'll be several choirs (who have, presumably, rehearsed) singing as well as all us schmucks from off the street. Happily my friend has several copies of the score so I won't have to pay for one.
I'm so psyched for it. Yay.
And THEN it's Jessimi's birthday, and she's having a gathering at the Bar of Modern Art, so I'll go there right from the Messiah.
So to sum up..first stop, Baroque-period oratio. Second stop, booze-soaked party at art-themed bar.
Sometimes I love my life.
