Wednesday TV wrap-up

Oct 04, 2007 17:42

So, Wednesday is typically the night I don't get as much writing done because every show in the universe is on Wednesdays and I try not to let my DVR get too stuffed full so I tried to watch at least some stuff while other stuff was recording.

Thoughts on last night's offerings.

Pushing Daisies: This was adorable and I loved it. HOWEVER. I'm afraid that its quirky, fairy-tale Series-of-Unfortunate-Events-by-way-of-Tim-Burton-and-Amelie tone will become tiresome and weigh it down. And this built-in device that the hero (who I want to marry RIGHT NOW) can't touch his One True Love will surely become nothing but frustrating. I loved the show, I'm just puzzled as to where they're going to take it. I love the aunties, though. Swoozie Kurtz and Ellen Greene (best known as Audrey from Little Shop and recently seen on Heroes as Sylar's mom) are teh awesome. And this lead actor, what's his name? He is so charming. And I kept thinking I recognized the narrator's voice but it's Jim Dale, who is yes famous for reading the HP audiobooks, which I have never listened to, so there's no reason he'd sound familiar.

Dirty Sexy Money: I have to say I'm feeling a tad less enthusiastic about this show, although I still like it. I'm just wondering how long before it'll be tired. But damn, Donald Sutherland. This is why he's a legendary film actor. He just puts so much nuance in everything. I mean, at the end when he told Nick to try Letitia's birthday as the briefcase combination...I really could not tell if Tripp had known about the affair all along, or if that just told him. And when he said to Nick that "of course" he'd known about the affair, I seriously wondered if he had known or was just saying he'd known. This is the ability of a great actor to put subtext into everything.

ANTM: Okay, I find every single one of these girls boring. None of them stand out.

Top Chef: Fucking Hung. That is all.

tv: reality, tv: dirty sexy money, tv: misc, tv: genre
