Tapas are for the old and sad

Sep 10, 2007 10:36

Saturday night it was determined that I am without question Old and Sad.

You may recall me mentioning that The Fabulous Nancy and I had tickets to see The Killers last weekend. Gates opened at 6:30 so just before we headed downtown to the venue. And it was pouring rain. Like, in the fashion of a monsoon.

There was no parking. The line for seats (this venue is all general admission) was halfway to Cleveland. And did I mention that the venue is partially outdoor?

So our choices were a) park somewhere, hike to the venue, stand in line forever and get soaked or b) drive around and wait for rain to die down, which would mean we'd have crappy seats and get soaked during the concert.

We opted for option c) sell our tickets and go out for tapas instead. We just looked at each other and said "We're too old for this get-soaked-at-the-concert bullshit."

The tapas were excellent. The concert venue was downtown so we went to the Short North (our Cbus version of the hip, trendy downtown-proximal yuppie/gay hangout) to the Burgundy Room, universally known as "that tapas place" because they have a subtle awning but yet a giant red glowing neon sign in their window that says "Wine Tapas Fun." They did have a fabulous wine list, I must say.

Earlier that day Nancy and I went out for breakfast then I went to the Saturday farmer's market at the North Market to get some fresh basil and more feta cheese. Stopped off to see my friend Jessimi while I waited for the pre-football traffic to clear out so I could get home.

After this busy Saturday my Sunday was totally lethargic. And now it's Monday.

Hoo rah.
