Feta fete (heh)

I always feel so cosmopolitan and worldly when I buy food at The North Market. It's not a frequent thing, although it could be more frequent than it is since it's fairly close to my workplace (relative to where I live, anyhow). Tonight I went in search of some kind of fish to grill on my brand-new grill pan, which I love (and which was much cheaper than actually buying a grill, not to mention easier to use), and thought I'd hunt up some better cheese for that grilled-bread-tomato-cheese-basil-balsamic thing that everybody is eating and which is so yummy. The mozzarella I used last night just didn't have enough taste to it and was totally drowned out by the balsamic vinegar, of which I wanted a better kind as well.

The cheesemonger at the North Market sells all kinds of balsamic vinegars, including the real kind from Italy that gets to use that seal of approval. And he had tons of fresh feta. I got a block of this goat-and-sheep's milk feta (traditional Greek feta is sheep's milk but can sometimes be goat's milk and the blended kind is fairly common, apparently). When I got it home and tried it I could not believe how orgasmically good it was. And it sliced beautifully without crumbling if you were careful. It was one of those situations where I just stood there in the kitchen and went "Mmmm! Mmmm! Mmmm!" and did a little dance of feta happiness after I tried it.

Yum.

I almost bought some heirloom tomatoes but passed them by. Thought about having asparagus with my fish but decided I was already having the bread-tomato-cheese thing.

I did cave and get some of Jeni's lemon frozen yogurt with blueberries.
