More about Al. It's an Al kind of day.
So after my
my recent post about my great and t00by love for Weird Al, I decided I couldn't be much of an Al-Gal if I didn't even have his newest album, which has been out since last fall. So last night I downloaded it.
I just found out too that this album, "Straight Outta Lynwood," is Al's highest-charting album ever, and "White & Nerdy" is his highest-charting single ever (it made #9). Awesome. Good old Al never gets stale, because he continually changes and reinvents along with the times.
The genius of "White & Nerdy" aside, it's a great album. The parodies are funny, the original songs are awesome. If you've never bought an actual full album of Al's you might not know that each album contains a polka medley of popular songs played as polkas with liberal accordion applied. The funny part is that often the songs sound better as polkas in the medley. This album's medley includes "Float On" by Modest Mouse which sounds awesome. And it's pretty damn hysterical to hear "Candy Shop" and "Drop It Like It's Hot" as polkas, man.
I need to get his live concert DVD, man.
