I'm from Ottawa so my bias would be to say don't go to Toronto, come here instead! However, if you insist on going to TO, I would second the recommendation for the Ontario Science Centre. Kensington Market is also really fun and has some neat little shops. I'm not sure whether or not the previous poster is aware that Stratford is actually a considerable drive from TO (2 hours or so depending on traffic).
*nods* And when I commented I was sort of assuming that Lori would be driving up from the Detroit side of the lake, which actually sort of makes it easier.
FWIW, Lori, the OSC was one of those kiddy touristy places I was referring to. It was fun, but probably not something I would have enjoyed as much without children, even with the science background.
I wasn't sure whether or not she was driving so I just wanted to warn her that you can't just on the subway :) Of course if you are driving, Lori, there are some wonderful Canadian wineries just a stone's throw from Toronto.
Oh, I don't doubt the collective wisdom, I just found it sort of unfortunate, as that is not my favorite drive ever. :( I think I posted about this at some point, bitter because the roads in Pennsylvania are so bad that to get from DC to Toronto I am supposed to go almost all the way to Pittsburgh and then up the lake. At least there's Niagara Falls on the way, I guess.
And reading over the comments again (which I'm doing b/c Marc and I are talking about going back to Toronto or Montreal this summer while the kids are away) I'm reminded that the Toronto Zoo IS my favorite zoo ever and we have seen us some zoos, man. *thumbs up*
