Cake or death?

Well, that cake that I slaved over...didn't turn out so well. The cake part is moist, but oddly tasteless. And I put way too much powdered-sugar in the icing and it's going to be downright brick-like.

Oh well. I'll see if it's edible at all tonight, and if it isn't I'll pitch it. Sigh.

So, on last night's Heroes, things are really starting to happen (not that nothing was happening before, but...you know what I mean). If Mohinder has a LIST, what's to stop him from assembling a kick-ass Heroes Squad? Except his endless prevaricating, that is. He's hot and all, but so boring that I want to take a nap just looking at him. But Simone did not annoy me for the first time last night! Yayz! And Peter...so heroic. I kind of figured out that he'd survive whatever was going to happen to him just by his proximity to Claire, but it's unclear if a) he figured out that SHE'S invincible and he just borrowed it and b) what she thinks. Seemed like she just thinks she's found someone else like herself and at some point Peter will have to tell her that he isn't invincible.

Although I'm not sure why Simone was so upset that Nathan poured paint on the painting when she had a picture of it. I guess as an art dealer she'd be upset to lose the painting regardless.

Oh, and Eden? Talking to Sylar? I know that I, and everybody else in the audience, had but one thought...these aren't the droids you're looking for.

So, raise your hand if the revelation of the identity of the Ice Truck Killer was SO not a surprise. But you know? I'm pretty sure the show didn't intend for it to be. I mean, come on. They had the guy going on and on about Deb as a collection of body parts. Dead giveaway. And we knew from last week that Perry wasn't the guy.

LaGuerta is starting to rock. Bringing in a severed head as an interrogation tool? That's hard-core, yo. And she is totally going to let her captain AND the D.A. hang themselves with this case. I kind of love that, although in the interests of justice she should tell them what she found out about Perry's hacking...he could be convicted and executed, and THEN how would she feel?

I feel strangely jubilant for Dexter and Rita. If he can manage to have a physical relationship with her and keep his secret, it'll be a huge step. And can I just say how awesome MCH was during that sex scene? It was the way he sounded, with the moaning, it was so damned vulnerable, like he'd never let go like that, like he couldn't help himself. It was kind of gorgeous. This was deliberately contrasted with what is probably his least-justified murder yet. The psychiatrist was the victim we've gotten to know the most, and the one who (so far) has been the least heinous. I mean, I get his manipulation of his patients, but the guy technically didn't KILL anyone, he seemed like a really good psychiatrist most of the time...he sure helped Dexter...and Dexter's execution of him was seemingly deliberately drawing our attention back to the inescapable fact that Dexter is a serial killer, and there's no getting around it. Brilliant. And yay, Tony Goldwyn.
