I feel great today! It's a beeeeeeyootiful day and I'm sufficiently caffeinated. Plus am wearing spiffy new boots. And
rachet is prone to exaggeration. I did NOT buy eight pairs of shoes on Saturday. I admit I went a bit nuts...but this is one of those rare paycheck-with-no-obligations weeks, and it was time for fall clothes. And I got great bargains! Go me!
And now, I am going to share some icky personal details. I'm cutting it for TMI. I wouldn't even discuss it, but I have some info for any of you who may, like myself, live with PCOS and its incumbent issues - or anyone who takes gluocphage (or metformin, same thing) for PCOS or diabetes.
So I've been spotting for like six months. Nonstop bleeds and/or spotting are definitely one of those superfun aspects of PCOS. Before, my periods were just few, far between, and unpredictable. When I started taking glucophage I noticed that after about a month they evened out considerably. I had to stop taking it, though, because it was making me sick. Right after that is when I started spotting. Not heavy, but noticeable.
I'm back on glucophage now and the spotting has almost stopped. Yay! And I've made a discovery. Anyone who's taken glucophage can tell you that it comes with unpleasant digestive consequences, to wit, diarrhea ALL THE TIME. It sucks. Mine was at least tolerable, which isn't always the case. But a few months ago my doctor put me on Prilosec for some minor acid reflux, and since then, the glucophage-related Montezuma's revenge is about 90% better. I only have it maybe two or three days a month instead of five days out of seven. I don't know for sure that it's the Prilosec, but the coincidence is a lot, and one of Prilosec's side effects is constipation, so maybe they're cancelling out. So if anyone suffers from glucophage-induced yuckiness, you might try taking Prilosec or another acid-reflux medication and see if it helps. My doc gave me five week's worth of samples when she started me on it, so it's worth a shot.
I made some progress on my ongoing project to see classic films that I'd missed this weekend. I saw that Doctor Zhivago was on TCM so I DVR'd it. It was very sweepingly epic, in typical David Lean fashion. It was very good, but I can't say that I became particularly emotionally involved in it. I expected the Zhivago/Lara relationship to be more central than it was. Rod Steiger rocks my socks, though.
Then I finally got around to watching Barry Lyndon, which I had from Netflix. THAT was a sensational movie. It was so beautiful, I don't know how he did it. The very first shot almost took my breath away with the clarity, the color, the depth of the photography. The long-standing legend is that Kubrick used NO artificial lighting when he shot this film, which according to IMDB isn't exactly true, but it IS true that he used not artificial lighting during the indoor candlelit scenes. It's quite amazing to see a movie that was filmed by candlelight.
I've heard it said that Lyndon is notoriously slow-moving. True, it wasn't quick, but I didn't find it dull or plodding. I appreciated that good old Stanley is willing to take his time, to let his shots settle and evolve, to give your eyes time to really see things. I was a little scandalized that the film starred Ryan O'Neal, who I think of as something of a cheeseball, but I suppose at the time he was the shiznit, wasn't he?
Last night's Watch & Cry was the best episode(s) I've seen in a loooong time from them. There was much watching and crying.
Question for experience eBay sellers...I'm selling my Buffy DVD boxed sets (my first time selling). Both have sold, and both sellers show as having paid, but I am not seeing any money in my PayPal account. One of them shows as having paid last Wednesday. Shouldn't I be seeing the money there by now?
