It is still raining. Meh. No Highbanks for me tonight. Oh well. I can go tomorrow. And we need the rain, desperately.
I just recently purchased a membership to the Columbus Zoo, and last night I went there after work. They're open until 8 on Wednesdays, and it was great. I put 2.25 miles on the pedometer, there were far fewer people around, and the animals were much more active than they were at 2 pm on the weekend. I took some fun pictures. The orangutans were rasslin'. I got this priceless shot of the younger orang sitting in a clump of daisies, flowers all around him, slumped over with his hand over his face like the world was just too much for him to take.
And the prairie dogs! I've never seen them so active! They were all out of their little tunnels and roaming around! So cute! The brown bears were getting fed and they kept roaring and bitch-slapping each other.
I wonder if it'd be fun to be a zoo docent. My schedule probably wouldn't allow it. I only have weekends free, and I need time to write. Them city writeups ain't gonna write themselves. Most of the docents seem to be retirees, which makes perfect sense, though I did get to chatting with a young woman docent last night.
