Reason Number 10234 why I Love Roger Ebert
Good old Rog and I don't always agree on films (though we often do), but I love love love him. He's funny and accessible and he knows everything there is to know about movies and the art of film. If that doesn't come across as strongly in his for-everybody weekly film reviews, just read one of his more scholarly books about film and you'll be awestruck by his passion for and knowledge about movies.
But this was just too cute. Recently he was asked in some interview or another who the most beautiful woman on earth was, and he said someone who I didn't recognize. Someone then wrote into this Movie Answer Man column, berating him for citing this woman and not someone closer to him, and hoping that he went out and bought Mrs. Ebert flowers for saying that some other woman was the most beautiful woman in the world.
His response? "You asked about women, not goddesses."
Tee hee.
